Life at Powerlink
As a Linesperson Apprentice, you’ll help us connect a more sustainable energy future for more than five million Queenslanders and 253,000 businesses. Your work with us is about every light turned on, every community connected, and every future made possible.
1. A four-year apprenticeship offering a competitive salary of $65,395 + 12.75% Superannuation OR $85,130 + 12.75% Superannuation (Mature Aged – 21 years or over) and other financial benefits such as living away from home allowances, various other entitlements and annual incremental salary increases.

5. Available to you will be working a 9-day fortnight with RDOs every second week.
Find a career that matters and lasts
During the four-year program, you will inspect, maintain and refurbish Powerlink’s high-voltage transmission lines. Over the course of the program, you will receive guidance from experienced tradespersons while completing your trade requirements. Additionally, you will acquire certifications including First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and High-Risk Work licenses (e.g., Elevated Work Platform).
Upon successful completion of the program, you will obtain a Certificate III in ESI – Transmission Overhead (UET30521). This certification opens pathways to various career opportunities such as Transmission Live Linesperson, Barehand Live Linesperson Work Site Supervisor, and Lines Section Leader within the industry.
The community you will join
Based in Brisbane, we are a passionate working crew exploring how electricity works, solving complex problems and safely taking the initiative to get things done. We are hands-on and love working away in remote locations with our crews.
About you
6. Hold a current Queensland drivers' licence (manual required or be willing to obtain).
7. You have your own means of transport.
8. Completed year 12 (or in the process of doing so) – unless you are a mature aged (over 21years of age) candidate.
9. Have a genuine interest in how electricity works and working at heights.
10. You like getting outdoors, working with your hands and being physically active.
11. Have a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety.
12. Team player with good communication skills.
