About the role:
We are currently seeking an Operations Specialist to be based at our Dry Creek depot. This role will encompass train driving duties, training and assessments, mentoring of rail operations staff, conducting audits, safety observations and incident management including investigations.
* Operate locomotives and trains in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all safe working regulations and requirements for upholding Rail Safety Workers (RSW) accreditation.
* Delivery of training and assessment requirements to ensure all RSW have up to date training and competencies.
* Conduct a range of operational audits, safety observations and other monitoring of operations.
* First point of contact for Drivers/Trainees for issue resolution.
* Provide immediate incident management and trauma support to employees.
* Develop procedures, safe working practices and other operational documents as required.
* Undertaking continual improvement activities including identifying, implementing, and monitoring operational initiatives.
* Promote optimum driving methodologies including regular review of data logger downloads.
* Establish and maintain effective and timely working relationships with internal/external stakeholders to ensure day-to-day requirements/expectations are met.
About you:
You will have a high level of communication skills and pride yourself on your ability to deliver value to customers. Operating in a dynamic work environment, you will bring the following skills to the position:
* Locomotive driving and/or Shunt qualifications (preferred).
* Training & Assessing CERT IV, working towards or prepared to attain.
* Cert IV Frontline Management or equivalent (preferred).
* Safe working Rules applicable to the Networks over which Bulk Central operate.
* Implementing, leading by example, improving, and maintaining a safety-based culture.
* Operation of train braking systems (Pneumatic or ECP).
* Self-management skills with flexibility and commitment to work in a 24/7 shift work environment.
* Monitoring performance of operations, identifying opportunities for improvements and experience in change management.
* Demonstrated skills within short term scheduling or similar positions.
* Substantial level of analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.
* Previous frontline leadership experience in train or terminal operations (desired)
* Demonstrated ability in the use of computers and Microsoft Office suite.
