Van der Meer Consulting is a multi-disciplinary Structural, Civil, Hydraulic and Fire engineering consultancy with offices in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney. Our rapidly expanding company is currently seeking a suitably qualified Senior Fire Engineer to join our Sydney office.
Education and Experience:
The successful candidate will have the following:
* Detailed experience in wet fire services installation, design or drafting essential. Includes design of:
o Fire Sprinkler systems for all hazard ratings,
o Fire Hydrants,
o Fire Hose Reels,
o Fire Extinguishers,
o Fire Blankets.
* Experience in dry fire services installation, design or drafting beneficial. Includes design of:
o Fire detection and alarm systems,
o BOWS/EWIS,
o FIP connection and integration.
* A minimum of 5+ years’ experience gained within a consultancy environment essential.
* Experience in a range of sectors and building types.
* Diploma of Fire Services Design essential.
* Industry registrations preferred (DFT, VBA, QBCC).
Skills and Personal Attributes:
* Detailed knowledge and application of the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards, relevant design techniques and construction procedures.
* Experience with the following software packages essential:
o Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
o Bluebeam Revu,
o HYENA.
* Have a basic understanding of the following software packages beneficial, but not essential:
o AutoCAD,
o REVIT,
o H2X.
* Must have good problem-solving skills.
* Must have excellent presentation and communication skills.
* Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate and work with draftsmen, engineers, architects and design managers.
* Be enthusiastic and committed to facilitating client needs.
* Must be eager to learn and develop managerial skills.
* Must demonstrate initiative and be a team player.
* Must hold a C class drivers licence.
* Preferred to hold a Construction Industry Work, Health and Safety White Card.
* Ability to be in the office (St. Leonards) 5 days per week.
