Job Description We currently have an opening for a Construction Inspector (Junior/Intermediate) in our Victoria office.We serve a wide range of client sectors across Western Canada with projects ranging from small-scale studies to large and complex multi-disciplinary design and construction assignments. The successful candidate will work on construction inspection and contract administration projects on Vancouver Island concentrating on the south Island area. Working autonomously and with others, you will have the opportunities to further develop your construction skills. You will be responsible for undertaking a variety of projects for a varied client base including municipal, institutional, provincial, federal, and private sector clients. You will also participate in the delivery of construction services for transportation, water, facilities, and infrastructure. Duties and Responsibilities Communicating effectively and demonstrating strong organizational and leadership skills in a dynamic work environment.Working with Professional Engineers and Technologists on construction inspection and contract administration projects in the South Island area of Vancouver Island.Collaborating with a diverse client base, including municipal, institutional, provincial, federal, and private sector clients.Delivering projects related to transportation, water, facilities, and infrastructure.Monitoring the Contractor's operations to ensure compliance with contract terms, design specifications, and drawings.Monitoring progress and schedules.Preparing daily & weekly reports.Maintaining project records and site diaries.Reviewing contractor work procedure submissions.Monitoring of quality control testing.Reviewing on-site quantities.Contract administration.You will have the opportunity to engage in a collaborative work environment, working with a team, as well as other disciplines and offices, and grow your role and responsibilities over time. Job Requirements What you will bring:Undergraduate degree or diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering or Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution.2+ years of progressive experience in civil construction inspection and contract administration.Experience in a consulting firm environment considered an asset.Experience with contract administration and construction inspection principles, practices, and techniques.Proven technical skills.Knowledge and understanding of Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD).Construction management skills are an asset.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Committed team player with ability to work independently with minimum direction when required.Shows close attention to detail and takes pride in your work, both for large and small sized projects.Demonstrates interpersonal and organizational skills.Committed to client service and production excellence.Ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines.Client liaison.Willingness and ability to travel.Valid driver's license.
