ABOUT THE JOB The Infrastructure Engineer Cadetship is a career development role that provides you the opportunity to gain valuable employment experience with our Infrastructure Assets Management team while continuing to complete your undergraduate studies in Engineering. You will assist the team with the long-term planning, delivery and management of the City's infrastructure assets including road pavements, kerb and channel, footpaths, cycle ways, bridges, retaining walls and drainage infrastructure to better support the community and enhance the liability and vitality of our City. This position is identified for females only and is exempt from Sections 8, 25 and 51 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1997 (NSW). The position works Monday-Friday, is located at Council's Administration Office in Speers Point, NSW, and involves some travel to areas within Lake Macquarie. The Cadetship is a full-time position consisting of a 35-hour work week, inclusive of paid time to attend compulsory University classes. As you will be working full time, you would be required to convert to part-time studies. Continued enrolment in the relevant degree is a mandatory requirement for the duration of the Cadetship. Graduate applicants are ineligible for this Cadetship position. Candidates who have completed an undergraduate Engineering degree or higher may not be eligible to apply. WHAT WE OFFER Receive a wage whilst studying towards a qualification starting from $1,077.23 per week plus 12 per cent superannuation. Payment of university fees (including course and amenities fees) for the remainder of your related undergraduate studies. Payment of all course fees. Paid time to study and attend compulsory classes. Yearly pay reviews and increases based on performance. 35 hour working week with nine-day fortnight. Four weeks paid annual leave. Be mentored and work closely with a Team of skilled professionals in a supportive, empowering, innovative and collaborative work environment. ABOUT YOU Our ideal candidate is completing or has completed at least the second year of a relevant Engineering degree and has an interest in the infrastructure asset lifecycle, analysing data and issues from a systems perspective and is solutions focused. You are self-motivated, collaborative and team orientated with a growth mindset. Your attention to detail, working to deadlines and excellent communication and presentation skills are key to your success in this role. To be eligible to apply you will meet the following criteria: Completion of the first two years of an Engineering degree in the fields of Civil, Structural or Environmental Engineering or similar. Qualify for enrolment in the third year of the above degree in 2025. Identify as a female. Effective written and verbal (English) communication skills. Ability to work within a team environment, cooperate with others, and contribute positively to achieve team objectives. Understanding of legislation, frameworks and policies for ensuring a safe and healthy workplace, sustainable business practices, privacy, and risk management. Class C Driver's licence.
