Individual Education Programs are provided for all students in the school by a multi-disciplinary team including parents/care givers, teachers and education support staff, including allied health staff.Selection CriteriaSC1 Demonstrated ability to proactively undertake a range of maintenance duties including some trade experience relevant to the role.SC2 Ability to use sound organisational skills to identify, prioritise and address maintenance and grounds issues as they arise.SC3 Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as both a member of a team and independently, to undertake necessary maintenance and grounds tasks.SC4 Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and practices.SC5 A strong ethic and a sense of pride in efficiently completing work to a high standard and in a timely fashion.RoleThe Facilities Maintenance and Grounds person will, under the direction of the Principal/Assistant Principal or the Business Manager, be responsible for the maintenance of buildings and associated structures, ensuring that all ground areas are maintained regularly. Ensure weekly, monthly and annual tasks are performed within timelines as identified in AIMS. Undertake required training/professional development should it be necessary.ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of the Grounds - Maintenance position include but are not limited to:Maintaining and improving the school grounds, facilities, and buildingsEnsuring safety is maintained within the work area when completing tasksUndertaking regular routine inspections and identifying issues requiring maintenance.Undertaking routine repairs, cleaning, and maintenance of the facilities.Maintaining all doors, gates, and locks to a safe standard.Working with contractors to attend to tasks that require registered tradespeople and ensuring OHS requirements in relation to sub-contractors are met.Undertaking small building projects and painting as required.Repairing/maintaining furniture as required.Moving furniture and equipment as required.Liaising with the Business Manager/Assistant Principal on a regular basis.Supporting staff in relocating furniture and equipment.Ensuring that tools and equipment are in a serviceable condition.Ensuring that the maintenance sheds are always clean and orderly in accordance with OH&S principles.Working together with the management team to ensure that occupational health & safety requirements are met.Working within DET OHS Guidelines.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.Conditions of EmploymentAll staff employed by the Department and schools have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements.Appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to a satisfactory pre-employment conditions check.A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programs provided.Detailed information on all terms and conditions of employment is available on the Department's Human Resources website.#J-18808-Ljbffr
