About the Business Unit: Located at Castlemaine, Loddon Prison is a 477 bed Medium Security Prison for sentenced male prisoners. Adjacent to Loddon Prison is Middleton, a 236 bed Restricted Minimum Security Prison for sentenced male prisoners. The focus of both prisons is rehabilitation via individual case management, employment, education, training and also the provision of programs and targeted interventions to address offending behaviour and promote the development of prosocial behaviour. Both prisons provide contemporary and quality correctional services that prepare prisoners for transition and reintegration. About the Role: Reporting to the Team Leader, the Justice Officer will provide high quality services and perform all functions pertaining to prisoner property and property enquiries in Loddon Prison and Middleton. This position will require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remuneration is in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Enterprise Agreement. Some of your duties will include: As part of the Property team, and under supervision, providing high quality services and performing all functions pertaining to prisoner property and property enquiries in Loddon Prison and Middleton Recording, maintaining, distributing and transfering all prisoner property and valuables in accordance with procedures ensuring the adequate, appropriate and secure storage of items Maintaining an adequate supply of prisoner clothing and other appropriate items. About You: As our ideal candidate, you will possess: Well-developed computer literacy Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations Demonstrated experience and/or understanding of working within a correctional environment.
