Job SummaryThe Nurse Manager assumes primary leadership and management of defined clinical nursing areas to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given.
Major functions include goals, planning, customer service/marketing, standards, certification and accreditation, administrative management, budget/cost containment, communication, and education.
Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices.
The Nurse Manager exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.Minimum QualificationsBachelors degree in Nursing or Masters degree in Nursing required.NYS License/Registration (or eligible) Registered Nurse required.Three years post-licensure acute care RN experience (preferably in specialty area) to include leadership experience required.Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree preferred.Nursing Leadership certification upon appointment or obtained within three years of appointment is preferred.Other specialty-based certifications for nursing leadership (i.e.
