Medical Specialists (Healthcare & Medical)Government - State (Government & Defence) Full time The Department of Anaesthesia at Mater Health Services has multiple positions to fill for Staff Anaesthetists .These roles are offered as fixed term part-time or full-time appointments.The successful applicants will be expected to fulfil all the clinical and clinical support activities including participation in the after-hours on-call roster across all Mater campuses as required.Demonstrated high levels of skill and recent practice in high-risk obstetrics and a broad range of adult anaesthesia are mandatory.Experience and skill in regional anaesthesia, perioperative medicine and acute pain management are desirable, as are experience and skill in education, research, and quality assurance activities.Experience and further education in health care management will also be considered.Salary: The Staff Anaesthetist role is remunerated as per the Mater Medical Officer Agreement (Mater offers at or above Queensland Health salary and remuneration).In addition: Mater anaesthetists benefit from significant private practice and on call incentives.Provide specialist anaesthetic services across all Mater campuses as required.Undertake clinical support activities which arise from this position, and those delegated by the Director of Anaesthesia.Supervise junior medical staff.Participate in teaching on an informal and formal basis.Participate in on-going professional development, continuous improvement programs and clinical risk management. About you Registrable as a Specialist in Anaesthesia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.Current knowledge and skills relevant to the broad range of elective and emergency adult anaesthesia, perioperative medicine, and acute pain management services required for the clinical workload of the department.Current knowledge and recent experience and skill in high risk, quaternary Obstetric Anaesthesia services is mandatory.Recent or current subspecialty experience in areas such as oncological, upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgery is highly desirable.Current knowledge and skill to provide occasional paediatric anaesthesia to the level of a Specialist Anaesthetist as required within the role is desirable.Understanding of human resource management issues including workplace health and safety, infection control, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination.
