About the role:

Work independently or with colleagues in undertaking direct care activities for and with individuals as specified in their personal care plans.
This is a SCHADS Award level 2 role.
In this role you will:
Direct care: includes skills development, and working towards achieving greater independence within the home and community. Some roles may also include components of personal care activities, including showering, toileting and dressing, medication management, managing finances etc. Using active support principles you will complete a range of duties which may include, meal preparation, household shopping, ironing, basic garden maintenance, vacuuming, pruning, pet care and other basic home maintenance. We use active support principles to assist participants in completing these tasks; ensuring that we encourage active participation in all tasks, to a level within their ability.
Administrative duties: you will be responsible for timely and accurate completion of required administrative tasks and associated documentation. Administrative tasks relate to both service operations and records of individual participants. Examples of administrative tasks include, but are not limited to: shift reports, incident reports, household communication diary, individual diaries, program notes, WHS checklists and forms, reconciliation of funds and household petty cash etc.
We also provide effective behaviour support to individuals as established by our experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners. Staff will work to a level that ensures our participants receive the highest standard of care possible.
Qualifications

What we do require is a willingness to learn and gain qualifications on the job if you do not already have them. A current and unrestricted driver's licence is mandatory for this role.

* A current and unrestricted driver’s licence is mandatory for this role.

* Understanding, ability and willingness to implement Person-Centred Practices.

* Ability to work effectively both individually and in a team environment.
* IT skills to a level where you are able to use the Microsoft Office suite, complete shift reports, maintain a communication diary, program notes etc.
* Sound communication skills – verbal and written.
* Effective time management skills.
* Desire and commitment towards working with people from diverse cultures.
* Good standards of professional behaviour.
* Relevant qualifications and experience working in Community Services is desirable.
* First aid, medication and manual handling training are also desirable, but you must have the ability to attain them as part of your training and induction.
