The team at QinetiQ are growing at a rapid pace, and as such, we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician, to join our Engineering Services division, based in Port Melbourne .
As the Mechanical Technician, your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to;
1. Assembly of fabricated/ manufactured parts into products and assembles sub-assemblies to produce machines and equipment
2. Perform machining (manual and CNC machines), fabrication and welding as required for standard and non-standard production
3. Integration of trial assemblies to platforms
4. Performing mechanical diagnostics and fault finding during assembly
5. Conduct calibration, maintenance, repair and overhaul of QinetiQ products and assemblies
6. Can provide advice and guidance to professional engineers and designers, positively influencing designs and projects
7. Support QA of material and sub-assemblies (inwards and outwards)
8. Performing function and end of line checks and tests
9. Provide input into new product development and installation guides
10. Provide input into operating and maintenance documentation
To be successful in the role of Mechanical Technician, you will need demonstrated experience, knowledge & skills in the following areas:
11. Previous experience in a similar role
12. Trades qualification as Fitter & Turner/ Toolmaker or Cert-IV in engineering or equivalent
13. Proven experience in safe maintenance and operation of industrial machinery including lathes, mills and brake press
14. Experience interpreting and working with assembly and/or engineering drawings
15. Superior attention to detail, with complex problem solving and analytical skills, with a positive can-do attitude
16. Ability to work in a changing environment both forward on customer test/range environments and within a workshop environment
17. A strong customer focus and be driven to achieve agreed targets
18. Operating of waterjet machine (Preferred but not essential)
