Who are we? Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.
About the role The Family Support Worker will collaborate with the Family Practitioners to form trusted working relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with the Family Practitioner to develop family support plans that provide early intervention that is effective, culturally affirming, and addresses the identified needs for families. Perform outreach supports to meet the needs of families and maintain effective communication with families and other team members. Partner with families to enhance effective, meaningful, and culturally affirming outcomes. Build and maintain stakeholder relationships to support families in growing their support networks. To be successful you will need: Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of current issues faced by families in relation to FDV. Demonstrated experience in a similar field relating to children and families with an understanding of the impacts of trauma, attachment, and child development. Knowledge of the social determinants of health (environment, economic, and social inequalities) that have a profound impact on the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Demonstrated ability to use culturally sensitive ways to ensure improved client access to DDHS and/or other health services. Proven teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to constructively negotiate outcomes with a diverse range of people and service providers. High level of personal resilience and flexibility with the ability to deal with challenging situations. Demonstrated computer skills, especially in the use of client information systems or similar. Qualification in a related field - Children and Family or Community Services (FDV). What we offer: 6 weeks annual leave per annum 5 days paid leave during end of year shutdown period (on top of annual leave) Salary packaging of up to $15,990 per annum Employment with DDHS is subject to a police check, a current NT working with children's card, CPR certificate, and full vaccination against COVID-19, or an exemption as listed on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).
