Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and The Transit Lounge is a clinical unit that supports the timely transfer of patients both incoming, outgoing and transferring through the Royal Hobart Hospital. The Transit Lounge supports discharge from inpatient units to home, Hospital in the Home service (HITH), and external health facilities.
The Role:
Under the general supervision of relevant senior staff, and in accordance with Agency policies and infection control and quality improvement guidelines, the Patient Flow Assistant provides:
* Hospital Aide services, general housekeeping, porterage and equipment provision to the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) campus through the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC).
* Support and assistance to the Clinical Manager/Patient Flow Managers (including After Hours Nurse Managers) in facilitating the provision of an organisational approach to the delivery of care to inpatients across the RHH campus.
* Assistance with the movement of patients through the RHH campus as part of the Transit and Transfer Team.
You will need to
* Provide Hospital Aide and general housekeeping services including monitoring of equipment and maintenance, working within infection control guidelines, to enable consistent patient flow and accessible care within the RHH campus.
* Assist in the transfer of patients, where required across campus, to expedite access to inpatient beds and encourage patient flow through the RHH.
* Assist nursing staff in the manual and/or mechanical transfer and positioning of patients and porterage services, ensuring to abide by manual handling guidelines and legislation.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
* notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
$62,486 to $65,119 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
