The Department of Health is responsible for the strategic direction, oversight and management of the WA health system, operating at arm’s length from health service delivery. We operate in a corporate environment, and do not deliver front line health services to the community.
At the Department of Health, our mission is to lead and steward the WA health system, made up of eight independent Health Services Providers. Covering million square kilometres, our 50,000-strong workforce delivers health services across the largest health authority in the world.
We are a values driven organisation that is proudly working together for a healthier Western Australia.
Your new role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic person to fill the position of Analyst – Data Development.
This position is fixed term to 30 June 2026 with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
This is an exciting role in a newly formed team. You will conduct ad-hoc analytics and investigations on real-time health data and support data model development for analytical purposes including real-time visibility of hospital capacity and demand.
What are we looking for?
Our ideal candidate will have experience in the provision of complex analytics. They will investigate data and provide data and advice to support the understanding of source data and development of data models.
The advertised position lies within the new Metadata and Data Development team, and will focus on developing new data collections, the initial priority being data models necessary to support systemwide visibility of real-time hospital capacity and demand. Real-time data capability is needed to manage system pressures and improve the flow of patients through emergency departments.
The Analyst – Data Development will support the delivery of the new real time data collections, by providing analytical support to inform data model design and requirements. As these data models may cross a number of data domains, it is expected that the Analyst – Data Development will be exposed to a variety of WA health system data, with an initial focus on data which relates to hospital capacity and demand.
The Metadata and Data Development team is advertising several other positions in addition to this one. Please see for an overview of the relevant positions, noting that each position will require a separate application.
