The Role
Caulfield Grammar School emphasises providing diverse domestic and international experiences for secondary students, particularly through the Yarra Junction and Kakadu Programs. The Yarra Junction Program, based in the Yarra Valley, focuses on junior and middle school students, offering progressively challenging outdoor activities to expand their capabilities, instil responsibility for sustainability, and engage in dairy-related tasks.
Reporting directly to the Campus Cook and working closely with Program Trainees and students, the Kitchen Supervisor will actively support the efficient running of the Yarra Junction kitchen and food service, ensuring delivery of nutritious meals whilst maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. This position plays a role in guiding the Trainees and students, fostering a positive dining environment to meet the needs of the Yarra Junction programs.
This is a permanent part time, averaging 15 hours (2pm-7pm, 3 days a week) plus every 2nd Saturday. This opportunity is based at our Yarra Junction campus with an immediate commencement available. The successful candidate will have a Level 3 Food Handling (Food Safety Supervisor) Certificate.
Key Duties
* Manage the food/kitchen resources and inventory levels according to budget while identifying cost saving opportunities
* Collaborate with staff to understand dietary needs and allergies to plan and cater meals accordingly
* Plan, prepare, and deliver meals to students and staff while supervising YJ trainees in kitchen roles, and promoting a positive team environment.
* Attend and contribute to pre and post program staff team meetings and continually improve own skills through professional development
* Liaise, where appropriate, with senior staff on the well-being of students, reporting on progress, conduct, personal issues, learning difficulties and health.

Skills and Experience
* Excellent time management and organisations skills with the ability to lead and function in team environments
* Experience with food handling and hygiene in preparation of meals for groups of 50 plus people while complying with legal and government regulations pertaining to food safety
* Level 3 Food Handling (Food Safety Supervisor) Certification
* First Aid Level 1 certificate and Anaphylaxis Management Training (can be completed upon commencement)
* Hold or willing to obtain an Employment Working With Children Check.
