About Redpath The Redpath Group is a leading international mining contractor with projects throughout Australia and across the globe. We specialise in shaft sinking, mine development, contract mining, raiseboring, underground construction, coal mining, engineering & technical services and specialty services to the underground industry. About the role The Accountant is responsible for management accounting/reporting for various Redpath projects. This position will also assist with any other accounts department functions as and when required. This position is an integral part of the team and requires knowledge and experience in both accounting and reporting functions. The role involves: Timely and accurate preparation of management accounts/project reports including journal processing; Maintain all fixed asset transactions with Lotus Notes and JDE, ensuring data integrity and financial transaction accuracy; Analysis of current operating performance including effective and proactive analysis of trends inherent in the numbers, together with sound advice to Managers; Identification of efficiencies and cost savings within assigned projects; Establish strong relationships with site managers, identifying their needs and exceeding their expectations; Assist with the preparation of detailed budgets and forecasts when necessary; Supporting the monitoring of capital expenditure within budgets & Redpath policies and procedures; Ensure monthly revenue claim raised to client on a timely basis, generate tax invoice and monitor/facilitate debt collection and reconciliation; Identify improvements in financial processes and systems and participate in the scoping, planning, and implementation of improvements; Provide project managers with necessary skills to understand the reports presented and identify opportunities to add value; Preparation of audit files and reconciliations where necessary; We are looking for: Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance; 3-5 years experience with preparing management/project accounts preferably in a mining environment; Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines for reporting; Experience with ERP systems preferable (JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP); Solid accounting skills and experience in managing budgets, costs and resource requirements; In return you can expect Competitive salary package Free car parking & modern workplace facilities Salary continuance insurance & life insurance Salary Sacrifice for Superannuation and Novated car leasing Discounted health insurance with BUPA Access to a large range of benefits and rewards, including discounts at major retailers Employee Assistance (4 sessions per annum), well-being assistance that’s free for all the family Superior problem solving and adaptability; Strong computer skills including intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills; Strong safety,quality and customer focus; Strong interpersonal, leadership, conflict resolution and team skills; Solid planning and organisational skills; Attention to detail to ensure all standards and compliance requirements are met; A drive for continuous improvement and contribute to an environment of 'innovation'; and A safety approach in keeping with Redpath’s principle Safety – First Last and Always.
