This volunteer treasurer position is to fill a casual vacancy on our board.
It is a fantastic opportunity to: play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of NOSS Tasmania, which directly impacts our ability to achieve our mission of enriching the quality of life of people with disability.
empower NOSS to increase its positive social impact work closely with other passionate individuals who share the common purpose of NOSS Responsibilities In addition to the responsibilities of every board member, specific responsibilities of the treasurer are to: Ensure NOSS has sufficient funds to pay its accounts as they fall due and keep the board alerted to any risks.
Ensure an annual budget, linked to the strategic plan, is developed and presented for board approval before the beginning of each financial year.
Provide information and advice on all financial aspects of NOSS decisions and activities.
Ensure NOSS financial transactions are processed and accurate records maintained to ensure proper financial management and the reduction of risk in accordance with NOSS policies.
Ensure funding body financial reporting requirements are met.
Chair the Finance and Audit Sub-committee and report to the board on actions and recommendations, including risk.
The Treasurer may, at the discretion of the board, delegate any of the above duties to specific members of the NOSS management team.
Skills and Qualifications Financial Expertise: A strong background in finance, accounting, or related fields is essential.
This includes familiarity with financial principles, budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis.
Leadership Skills: The ability to lead financial discussions and collaborate effectively with other board members.
Commitment to the Mission: A deep commitment to the mission and values of NOSS.
Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of relevant laws and regulations, including tax obligations and charitable status requirements.
