LGANT is seeking a dynamic Policy and Advocacy Advisor to join their dynamic team in Darwin.

Influence Policy: Play a key role in shaping policies that impact local communities and government operations across the Northern Territory.Diverse Role: Engage with a wide range of topics, including workforce development, climate change, community services, and more, adapting to the evolving needs of our members.Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with councils, government departments, and other key stakeholders to effectively represent LGANT's strategic priorities.Impactful Work: Work on issues that matter, from drafting submissions and reports to representing LGANT at high-profile meetings and conferences.Key Responsibilities include: Provide high-level advice and support to influence the development of public policy in line with LGANT's strategic priorities.Conduct research, draft letters, submissions, and Board papers on a wide range of topics relevant to local government.Manage projects that support and benefit member councils, ensuring they align with LGANT's strategic objectives.Represent LGANT in meetings, roundtables, and other forums, effectively communicating the interests of our members.Develop and maintain effective relationships with local government members, NT and Australian government bodies, and other stakeholders.About You You are an experienced policy and advocacy professional with a passion for local government.
You have strong analytical and advisory skills, excellent communication abilities, and thrive on managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Key attributes include: Proven experience in advocacy, policy development, and stakeholder management.Advanced research, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to synthesise complex information.Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously and as part of a cohesive team, with strong organisational skills.A proactive and outcomes-focused mindset, with the ability to exercise initiative and manage competing demands.Understanding of the local government sector and relevant legislative frameworks, ideally within the Northern Territory.Willingness to travel regionally and interstate as required.Recognising the importance of your contribution, LGANT offers a competitive salary package.
Additionally, we provide an enhanced superannuation benefit: if you contribute an extra 2.5% of your base salary to your chosen superannuation fund, LGANT will contribute an additional 2% on your behalf.
