GTS (Global Transaction Services) provides transaction banking, client experience, and solution implementation for large corporate and institutional customers as well as manages the bank's payment networks, the regulatory and payments strategy agenda, and the end-to-end payments operations including clearing and settlements.
GTS is on a journey to deliver a digital banking platform for the future. Aimed at Westpac’s institutional customer segment, the platform will provide digitisation of the working capital cycle and deliver a real-time corporate treasury through faster payments, real-time liquidity optimisation, cash flow forecasting and data monitoring. All through a seamless digital front-end customer experience.
How will I help?
An exciting opportunity to join the Global Transaction Services (GTS) business line which is a critical pillar of Westpac’s Institutional Bank has arrived! GTS provides transaction banking, client experience, and solution implementation for large corporate and institutional customers.
The Senior Business Analyst role sits within the Data squad of the Westpac One Core program, alongside squad members, working off a prioritised backlog to deliver business value and outcomes under an Agile methodology. The role is responsible for capability / feature analysis and design to support the product owner and work closely with the developers and testers to deliver high quality outcomes. The role also requires partnering with product owners and business analyst colleagues across Accounts & Products, Payments, Channels and Servicing to ensure requirements capture, elicitation and documentation of capabilities and features.
The role will be the key link working across business and the Agile delivery team to articulate and translate requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria for the developers and testers. They will represent the Product team and wider business requirements in the Agile scrums as well as manage delivery prioritisation within the Agile delivery framework.
An understanding of retail or institutional transactional banking products including deposit accounts and associated business and operational data will be highly regarded.
Key accountabilities include:
Collaborate with key cross-functional stakeholders, product and service owners, vendors and squad members to understand and prioritise business requirements.
Facilitate workshops to elicit and document user stories, acceptance criteria, and project scope using Agile principles.
Own the elaboration of user stories and design and delivery tasks; work with key stakeholders to execute the backlog.
Utilise Jira as a tool to manage projects and workflows efficiently, including creating and updating user stories, tasks, backlogs and sprints.
Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, to foster transparency and continuous improvement.
Employ Agile practices to break down complex features into manageable tasks and guide squad members.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
In-depth knowledge of institutional transaction banking products. Experience in Digital products and platforms with data implementation knowledge will be highly regarded.
Proficiency in understanding and working with structured and unstructured data.
Implementation experience with SaaS products delivery will be preferred.
Demonstrated experience in Agile practices, including backlog management and prioritisation, as well as user story definition and refinement.
Demonstrated experience in end-to-end technology delivery, covering design, build, test and implementation.
Business Analyst with experience in business process improvement/re-engineering, data analysis, value chain / process mapping, business high level requirements/ user stories/ system functional / non-functional requirements gathering.
Proven experience in performing E2E business analysis tasks, from requirements gathering to solution implementation.
Strong facilitation and elicitation skills, with a track record of successfully conducting workshops and extracting critical insights.
Strong and diverse experience in large projects, forming requirements, planning delivery milestones, user stories, process engineering and creation/management of project artefacts.
Stakeholder Management and Communication: Identify stakeholders and develop and maintain collaborative working relations; elicit and analyse business requirements involving participants from senior management to business users.
Ability to manage own time, working independently and seeking guidance from others where required to meet specified objectives within given deadlines.
Ability to facilitate workshops to elicit and document user stories, acceptance criteria, and project scope using Agile principles.
Utilise Jira as a tool to manage projects and workflows efficiently, including creating and updating user stories, tasks, backlogs and sprints.
Employ Agile practices to break down complex projects into manageable tasks and guide squad members.
Continuously improve Agile processes, foster transparency, and promote a collaborative work environment.
