Your Role As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a vital role in maintaining Viva Energy's diverse fleet of rotating, stationary, and associated equipment.
Your work will ensure the continuous operation and performance of the refinery while upholding the highest safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities Conduct maintenance, overhauls, and repairs on rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, and steam turbines.
Perform dynamic balancing, alignment, and machining of components as part of repairs or modifications.
Use problem-solving and failure analysis techniques to troubleshoot equipment issues and improve reliability.
Ensure all activities align with Health, Safety, and Environment practices as per the Geelong Refinery Management System.
Estimate, plan, and resource maintenance tasks efficiently, ensuring optimal productivity and cost-effectiveness.
Assist in training apprentices and employees, and support the development of your team and yourself.
Utilise maintenance documentation and CMMS to record and optimise workflows.
Participate in after-hours call-ins, extended hours, and plant shutdown activities as needed.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance controllers, and team members to prioritise tasks effectively.
Workshop Machinery You'll work with state-of-the-art tools, including: Borer machine Balancing machine Lathes Milling machine Radial arm drill Slotter machine Surface grinder Hydraulic press Job Requirements Qualified Fitter/Machinist with a trade certificate.
Specific experience in rotating equipment in oil and gas, industrial, mining, or power station settings.
Competent with workshop machinery and CMMS systems.
Preferably holds dogman or rigger qualifications.
Strong decision-making, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Committed to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Hours of Work Full-time, permanent position with a four-on, four-off roster.
Day and night shifts (0700–1900 and 1900–0700).
Overtime expected, up to 24 hours per month.
