The Opportunity
Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Operator who is self-motivated and willing to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. We are seeking an operator who is multiskilled with an ability to problem-solve.
As an Operator, you will identify road defects and appropriate repair techniques required and will carry out road maintenance. The Operator also carries out other civil construction and maintenance tasks in a team where flexibility and responsiveness are essential.
To be successful, you will demonstrate personal attributes that are consistent with Councils values of Integrity, People Focused, Excellence and Sustainability and you will possess the following:
Skills and Qualifications:
* Current MR Drivers Licence or higher (essential)
* Current Tractor and Backhoe Ticket with demonstrable experience in the safe and efficient operation of both (highly desirable)
* Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
* Previous experience in the maintenance and safe operation of plant, preferably within the civil construction industry or in road construction and maintenance.
* Physical capability to be able to carry out associated labouring duties required within a road's construction and maintenance environment for extended periods in direct sunlight and/or inclement weather conditions.
* Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment with team (including contractors) and communicate with members of the public

General Salary Information
Level 5 + Construction $64,309 per annum plus superannuation plus locality.
Pre-employment Screening
Pre-employment screening includes Medicals, Drug and Alcohol Testing, and Criminal History Checks to ensure capability to perform the inherent requirements of the role.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Applicants must be able to safely and competently carry out strenuous labouring and manual handling activities. While this is an Operator role, the position will require the employee to carry out physical tasks which may include manual handling, repetitive bending, kneeling, twisting and/or squatting, lifting, working in confined spaces, and working at heights.
