Maarakool Primary School (PS) is situated on Noongar Whadjuk Boodjhar and opens for Kindy to Year 6 students in 2025. The school is projected to open with 250 students and will cater for 540 students. The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Cleaners in Charge (CIC) who has outstanding interpersonal and communication skills who can build effective relationships. With relationships central to the work we do, the CIC will work in partnership with the Corporate Services Team to foster a team culture. The personal qualities that you bring to this role should include a commitment to team before self; solutions focussed problem solving; fostering a growth mindset; and acting on feedback.
The Cleaner in Charge is responsible for inducting, training, leading, and managing cleaning staff including relief staff; monitoring and ordering stock supplies within your budget; maintenance and stocktake of cleaning equipment; undertaking cleaning of allocated internal and external areas; opening and locking the college, including setting the security alarm system.
Successful applicant shall be required to carry out internal cleaning duties, in accordance with the Department’s procedures. The duties include the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal and other items of general cleaning.
In addition to this, successful applicant would also carry out external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning, removal of cobwebs, other general cleaning and other such duties as required by the Cleaner in Charge. Vacation cleaning duties should be completed and include shampooing carpets and pressure cleaning various areas.
To be successful for this role you will ideally have good attention to detail and should be able to work well both individually and as part of a team to ensure a clean and safe school environment. You will ideally be organised, honest, reliable and punctual and have excellent knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices.
