Job Description
Senior Data Scientist Responsibilities
* Develop and optimize predictive analytics models to improve operational performance, including equipment efficiency and resource utilization.
* Design and implement machine learning algorithms for safety monitoring, process optimization, and environmental assessment.
* Conduct data analysis and create interactive visualizations to drive actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Data Engineering Responsibilities
* Design and maintain scalable data architectures using Microsoft Fabric, integrating diverse data sources including IoT sensors, Fleet Management Systems, and enterprise platforms.
* Develop and optimize data pipelines while ensuring security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
* Implement and maintain automation and tooling for data pipelines and MLOps.
Collaboration and Leadership
* Bridge technical and operational teams while providing mentorship to junior data professionals.
* Drive innovation and continuous improvement in advanced modeling techniques and data-driven practices.
Qualifications
* Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and other data analysis tools.
* Hands-on experience with data engineering frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Databricks).
* Knowledge of database management systems (e.g SQL, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL).
* Expertise in Microsoft Azure.
* Strong understanding of machine learning, AI Concepts, and statistical modeling techniques.
* Strong experience in DevOps practices.
* Familiarity with coal mining technology and fleet management systems (e.g., Minestar Fleet) is a bonus.
Requirements
* 5+ years of experience in data science, architecture, or a similar role, preferably in the mining or heavy industry sector.
* Proven track record of deploying data solutions in large-scale industrial settings.

o Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
o Leadership and collaboration skills to manage multi-disciplinary teams.
Education
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
* A Ph.D. is a plus.
