What You Will Do As a Technical Analyst, Calypso, Fintech, you will work directly with the customer project team in implementing the Calypso system and assisting them in the implementation of their users’ requirements. Follow up with the users to test the implementation, achieve signoff, and continue to move the system toward go-live Assist developers in understanding the API required to extend the Calypso system, add data to the Calypso system, and build interfaces between Calypso and external systems Train users and customer developers on the basic use of the system, particularly with the technical setup System installation, including Java JRE download and installation, relational database installation, data model installation and upgrade scripts, setup and configuration of event-driven framework, configuration of real-time market data feed, etc. Work hands on with the system, configuring it and testing that it meets the customer’s technical requirements Work with Calypso business analysts, Calypso core development, or customer development to code prototypes of enhancements to ensure they will meet business requirements Some technical project management work will be expected. In particular, managing the technical issues and tracking the timeline of technical deliverables, in order to keep the customer informed of progress. This may also include assisting customers with development of their own internal project plan, including identification of key setup and configuration tasks, scope considerations, timeline and scheduling, and resource requirements. What We Expect 8 years working in systems or technical analysis, preferably in the capital markets industry 8 years of experience in commercial software development in Java, C++, Swing, JDBC, RMI, J2EE, Linux, Sybase, XML (exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered) Strong GUI and server-side development Excellent object-oriented analysis, design and development skills Knowledge of relational databases and SQL including working experience with Sybase and/or Oracle Preference for domain experience in developing software or implementing software in support of any or all of the following asset classes: credit derivatives, interest rate derivatives, equity derivatives, fixed income, or FX Experience designing/building front-to-back capital markets trading systems will be especially valuable Strong business skills – even though this is a technical position, the candidate must be very “business savvy” – ability to comfortably interact with end users on business operations will be highly valued. Particular value will be placed on understanding basic concepts of trade capture and trade workflow management, market data capture, cash flow generation, trade valuation, sensitivity analysis, payment advice and settlement creation, general ledger accounting, and securities position management. Excellent interpersonal skills. The person in this role will spend significant amounts of time working hands-on educating and training customers, and patience will be key to success.
