The Tour Guide Coordinator will manage a team of cultural tour guides to deliver cultural tourism activities on country, including scheduling, logistics, supervision, mentoring, training and capacity building. About The Role: The Tour Guide Coordinator works closely with the Visitor Management Officer to plan and deliver Cultural Awareness packages and on-country tours on commercial vessels, in town and at key visitor locations. The Tour Guide Coordinator will engage with the DAC Board, members, accredited training organisations and tourism operators to organise appropriate, tailored training and professional development for Trainee Tour Guides and ensure the Tour Guide program meets industry needs and Traditional Owner aspirations. About The Corporation: Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation (DAC) provides a unique opportunity to work closely with Aboriginal people in one of the most remote, spectacular regions of the Kimberley. DAC is a small Aboriginal Corporation dedicated to the benefit of our members, Dambimangari Traditional Owners. DAC is the governing body for all Dambimangari business on behalf of our members, and in line with traditional Law and Culture. We employ more than 30 staff, the vast majority of whom are Traditional Owners. The Corporation's key functions include: Managing Native Title including engaging with mining, tourism and other access and development proposals. Members' Services like health and education. Duties will include: Plan and implement the new Dambimangari Cultural Tour Guide Program including training, development and delivery of on-country tours and Cultural Awareness packages to the Kimberley tourism industry and tourists, including project planning, training, mentoring, trialing with industry and staged implementation. Staff management including day to day supervision, rostering, team meetings, performance reviews, mentoring, recruitment and training for a team of approximately 10 Indigenous Tour Guides, including both experienced and new Trainee Tour Guides. Set and supervise tasks consistent with the tour guide work program activities, including training, planning, developing resources and materials, practice delivery, logistics and packing. Liaise with accredited Training Organisations to plan and coordinate customised delivery of Certificate I and II in Cultural Tourism to new Cultural Tour Guides, including attending and supporting training events. Be responsible for the care, safekeeping and maintenance of equipment and resources used by Cultural Tour Guides. With support from the Visitor Management Officer, Training Providers and Industry, develop and deliver a customised training and mentoring program for Cultural Tour Guides and Members. Responsible for all day-to-day administration of the Tour Guide program, including purchasing, timesheets, leave forms, travel allowance, staff pays and any quotes/invoicing with tour operators for products. Qualifications and Experience: Tertiary qualification in tourism management or relevant discipline, or at least 3 years relevant industry experience such as tour guiding, youth work, or community development. Cert IV in Training & Assessment TAE40116. Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people in remote Australia preferably in tourism or community development. (Desirable). Experience in problem solving, project management and logistics, preferably in a remote setting. Experience managing and supervising teams, including the capacity to plan work, motivate staff and monitor performance in a dynamic and challenging work environment. Experience using, maintaining & managing assets & equipment including vehicles, vessels, trailers, and small machinery. Computer literacy, experience managing budgets, work plans and completing reports. Practical bush skills. High level administrative skills including Microsoft word, outlook, excel, purchasing. Marine qualifications, at least AMSA Coxswain Grade 2 Near Coastal (desirable). Current Working with Children's card. Current National Police Clearance. First Aid Certificate.
