The Role
Our Vocal team is seeking an experienced singing tutor to commence Week 1, Term 1 2025, working with an established and growing vocal program. Caulfield Grammar School actively seeks and supports music staff by ways of professional development opportunities, observation and mentorship.
Due to program demand we currently have casual instructing opportunities at our Caulfield and Malvern Campuses. Opportunities to direct choral ensembles and sectional rehearsals may also be available to the right candidate.
The Vocal Music Tutor is responsible for developing vocal skills and techniques, as well as recruiting and retaining vocal students. They are also expected to foster strong connections with all music students across the three campuses of Caulfield Grammar School.
Key Duties
* Act as an inspirational tutor, leader and mentor
* Be a dynamic, innovative and motivating musician
* Work within a large Vocal and Choral Team and the wider Music Department
* Providing performance opportunities for the Voice students
* Collaborate with the Head of Voice to support development of the whole school music program
* Attendance at Concerts, Soirées and sectionals when required
* Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Skills and Experience
* Excellent communication, relationship and well-developed organisational and time management skills
* Proven tutoring experience in a variety of vocal techniques and styles
* Knowledge of vocal repertoire including AMEB Classical, Singing for Leisure and Music Theatre and VCE
* Outstanding vocal pedagogy across a variety of styles in individual and shared lessons
* Ability to relate to children and young people, with experience across all year levels including VCE
* Ability to prepare students for AMEB and VCE examinations
* Contribute to a highly motivated team and be a supportive team player
* Experience in Choral directing is an advantage.
* Hold suitable tertiary qualifications in music or education and either be VIT registered or hold a current Working with Children Check
