We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our Maintenance team. This critical role involves performing mechanical and service work on our mobile fleet, including loaders, forklifts, trucks, light vehicles, and other mobile plant across 3 mill sites, in Mount Gambier.
Your responsibilities will include diagnosing, repairing and maintaining key systems such as electrical, hydraulic, engine, transmission, lubrication, and pneumatic systems while ensuring all equipment is kept in top condition.
Key Responsibilities Work closely with the Maintenance team to prioritise scheduled maintenance and servicing. Improve and further develop preventative maintenance (PM) requirements for mobile fleet (based on OEM and/or service intervals to suit usage, environment, and wear) Diagnose, test, and repair a diverse range of equipment types within mobile fleet Carry out inspections, routine maintenance, lubrication, and overhauls as per scheduled work orders (including PMs, corrective work, and project work) Maintain mechanical workshop spares and liaise with Maintenance Manager for replacement and restocking Maintain all areas of the Workshop in a tidy and safe condition, ensuring items being worked on do not cause avoidable clutter, or present a hazard to yourself or others. Experience, Qualifications and Skills Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology or equivalent Diesel or heavy machine mechanical experience Current driver license (and endorsements) suitable for driving, operating, and moving mobile fleet or the ability to quickly gain these licenses/endorsements. High Risk Work License Hands-on, post trade experience in heavy mechanical servicing and/or heavy mobile fleet Timber industry or heavy engineering experience in mobile plant and equipment, earthmoving, or other related equipment preferred but not essential Strong communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain productive and cohesive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise work and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgement and decision making. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. Why Join Us?
