The Role
As a Chapter Lead in the Defence Digital Group (DDG), you are a leader with deep knowledge in a technical profession and experience in coordinating and coaching teams. You will be responsible for leading a team of Chapter Members who will be embedded in project teams but report to you as their line manager. You will guide Chapter Members’ professional development, and align how they work. This is a “player/coach” role, where about a third of your time will be spent on project delivery and the remaining two-thirds will be dedicated to managing and supporting Chapter Members.
Through your subject matter expertise and commitment to professional development you will foster world-class technical skills within your Chapter, and serve as a promoter of new ways of working. You will maintain and develop your own expertise, bringing the latest thinking to your work, and empowering others to spread knowledge throughout the Group.
You will:
1. Be responsible for developing Chapter Members to help improve domain knowledge, including providing feedback, developing/sourcing training, coaching, and assessing performance
2. Provide input into strategic workforce planning and Chapter Member allocation to work based on demand, skills, experience and individual learning objectives
3. Drive continuous improvement of Chapter specific standards, guidelines and artefacts, taking industry standard frameworks and applying them to the Defence environment
4. Be responsible for enabling Defence Digital Group’s new ways of working by modelling agile delivery and leadership behaviors
5. Act as an expert member of a project team, guiding team members and delivering output to effectively manage risks and project schedules.

As part of DDG, the Military Systems and Enterprise Systems Divisions’ deliver and enhance ICT capabilities that meet Defence's needs and ensure Defence is ready to fight and win in the digital age. The Chapter Lead - Scheduling and Risk Management will work alongside other Chapter Leads in the Program Management Office Branch to deliver capability within the Military and Enterprise Systems Divisions’.

To be successful in this role you will ideally bring:
6. Proven experience in leading risk and scheduling activities
7. Proven track record of coaching and developing individuals and teams to grow professional and technical skills
8. Strong technical background in risk management and project/program scheduling; and experience in creating or improving related frameworks, procedures and toolsets
9. Ability to drive outcome and develop and execute on complex delivery initiatives
10. Advanced communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and initiatives
11. Experience in resource planning and allocation
12. Intellectual curiosity and passion for learning new professional and technical skills
13. Knowledge in the application of agile ways of working.
