The Client
ALJ Maintenance Pty Ltd is a reputable residential painting services company located in Maribyrnong.
They now seek an experienced Painting Trades Worker to join their team to service Maribyrnong, VIC and surrounding suburbs.
The Role
This is a full time salary with an annual salary set at $73,500, depending on experience plus superannuation.
Responsibilities
* Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel and other finishes to surfaces using spray guns, brushes or rollers.
* Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces such as bare wood or metal for finish coats.
* Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
* Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
* Fill cracks, holes and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.
* Mix and match colours of paint, stain or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colours and consistencies.
* Clean surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper.
* Polish final coats to specified finishes.
* Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors or homeowners in order to determine work requirements.
* Spray or brush hot plastics or pitch onto surfaces.
* Use special finishing techniques such as sponging, ragging, layering or faux finishing.
* Waterproof buildings using water proofers and caulking.
* Maintain correct record and general recordkeeping.
* Follow established protection procedures.
* Clean up the job site after work and return equipment and tools.
* Maintain a clean work environment.
* Put up scaffolding or setting up ladders to perform tasks above ground level
* Wash surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover, using brush
* Apply wallpaper fabrics
* Estimating costs involved and negotiating prices
Requirements
* AQF Certificate III relevant qualifications
* Relevant experience and skillset to perform aforementioned duties
* At least 1 year' experience in a residential painting role in the painting and decorating industry
* At least 1 year' experience in a wide range of painting techniques, including faux finishes, marbling, graining, and fresco
* At least 1 year' experience in chemical stripping, abrasive blasting, and power washing techniques for surface preparation
* Construction induction card
* Good understanding of colour theory and various finish types
* Physical dexterity to climb ladders, carry heavy equipment and to stand for long periods of time
* Additional tickets, EWP and relevant licenses will be looked upon favourably
