Wayside Chapel is looking for a talented Maintenance Worker, who is responsible for the general maintenance of the internal and external environment of all Wayside sites. The role reports to the Facilities Manager and is part of the Finance and Corporate Services team. The Maintenance Worker will ensure that essential safety along with preventative and breakdown maintenance is undertaken in consultation with leadership roles within the organisation. The Maintenance Worker will complete regulatory equipment checks including test and tag and assist with a variety of housekeeping and support service functions to ensure optimum standards in the physical environment of the site. The Maintenance Worker also plays a key role in the movement of goods and food between sites Although based at Potts Point this role requires travel to all sites operated by Wayside, including to our sites at Bondi Beach, as requested by the Facilities Manager Accountabilities and Responsibilities As the Maintenance Worker you will hold responsibilities such as: Maintain a safe and pleasant site for all staff and visitors Undertake basic repairs to buildings, equipment and assets that do not call for trade skills or knowledge Perform maintenance and light repairs (non-electrical) for example – hanging and fixing doors, strikers and handles, fix leaking taps and toilets, changing light bulbs, patching and painting Undertake minor to moderate building and fixtures maintenance – build furniture, fix cabinets, seats, windows, shelving construction and maintenance, minor building fabric maintenance and assist with space management tasks Provide assistance to move items between the Wayside Chapel properties Ensure corrective and preventative maintenance activities are completed as scheduled and within the required time frames Confirm all essential safety requirements including fire safety, electrical and other legislative tasks are carried out in accordance with standards, policies, and legislation Carry out test and tagging of all equipment as required Make sure all Wayside vehicles are regularly maintained and used appropriately Be available to work on site full-time – Workdays – Monday to Friday. Work Hours – 8am to 4pm. Note: there may be occasions and special event days which will require assistance and support Core Competencies – key skills, work experience, qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Proven experience (3 years) in property or facilities maintenance Strong organisational and multitasking skills with attention to detail Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to manage and supervise external providers, volunteers, and contractors NSW driver’s license Basic knowledge of pest control and maintenance procedures Proficiency in using property management systems like Fresh Desk Relevant certifications (e.g., WHS, pest control) preferred ABOUT WAYSIDE Wayside has provided unconditional love, care and support to the most marginalised people on and around the streets of Sydney since 1964.
