We are seeking a highly experienced General Manager that can oversee the entire business operation and look to increase growth in every part of the business. Job Opportunity - In this challenging role, you'll be tasked to maximise growth through independent and company-owned wholesale distribution networks by providing management not just in operations but also in commercial sales and marketing. You will also manage global equipment OEMs in providing support and looking to introduce growth in the company's product portfolio. With 6 direct reports and the overall responsibility of 86+ employees, your strategic management influence and overall direction is key to the Australian business growth. Key to the role is your ability to lead and mentor the senior leaders in the team but also look after the retail and wholesale channels within Australia. You will be across the entire business operation from Sales, Operations, HR, Accounting, Distribution management, Recruitment, Growth objectives, and Service/Parts. You must be self-aware of the business direction and have not just the engineering understanding but also lead the management team through new changes and Australian market challenges. It is essential that you can lead from the front to support and provide guidance to the team through giving strategic leadership. Key position requirements – Plan, coordinate and manage all business operations to achieve corporate goals. Manage and oversee OEM equipment through distribution channels. Develop and implement business plans for profitability. Work with the National Sales Manager to secure large Equipment deals for the retail Equipment division whilst supporting and leading the national sales teams. Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities. Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing programs and recommend improvements. Develop strategies to improve overall quality and productivity. Generate business, cost, and employee reports to management. Schedule regular team meetings to discuss business updates, issues, and recommendations. Respond to employee concerns in a timely manner. Provide direction and guidance to all employees in their assigned roles and responsibilities. Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire, and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes. Manage employee recruitment, training, performance evaluation, promotion, and termination activities. Ensure that employees follow company policies and procedures. Manage administrative, logistical, human resources, and accounting services to support company operations. Address customer inquiries promptly and professionally and ensure customer satisfaction. Identify profitable business opportunities with new and existing customers. Review financial, sales, and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing improvement. Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with senior management, organisation officials, and staff members as necessary. Manage pricing strategy and strategic visions to develop new markets or areas of profit. Manage the activities directly related to expanding the product portfolio in line with market requirements. Manage the development and implementation of marketing strategies including advertising campaigns and sales promotions. Develop and present solid business proposals for the location of new facilities while managing the growth of the company's current service centres. The business has grown year after year and now seeks a General Manager that will look at building the business over the next 10 years, with future growth of taking on the Managing Directors role within 6 years. Candidate Requirements - 10+ Years within Earthmoving Equipment retail Sales Proven Strong Leadership Skills with GM responsibility and P & L control Preferred Management qualification (MBA or equivalent) Excellent Sales & Marketing background coupled with Operational Expertise Exceptional understanding/experience of managing a retail Channel National Sales Team and Wholesale reliant business model and able to demonstrate ethical relationship focus Proven experience in working with a variety and complex routes to market, business model dependent on end user profile Accountable for a large number of direct reports (Engineering Director, National Sales Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Operations Manager, Financial Controller, Branch Managers, Product Manager within a flat organizational structure). Ability to travel domestically and internationally Proven management leadership and the ability to support national teams along with working on international supply chain and sales opportunities.
