We are seeking a proactive and experienced Town Planner to contribute to our community’s sustainable growth and development. About the Role As a Town Planner, you will: Deliver efficient and professional development assessment and compliance services. Assess and determine development proposals in accordance with legislation and policies. Provide expert advice to the public, applicants, and staff on planning-related matters. Support the mentoring and development of junior planning staff. Actively engage in improving planning processes and strategies. Gain valuable experience in coastal planning and management, addressing the challenges and opportunities of development in a unique coastal environment. Key Responsibilities Interpret and apply planning legislation to assess development applications and resolve disputes. Investigate non-compliance issues and identify practical planning solutions. Represent the organization in dealings with public authorities, consultants, and the local community. Prepare clear, concise reports and communication materials for stakeholders. Contribute to creating a positive and cooperative team environment. What We’re Looking For Essential Criteria: A degree in Town Planning or a related field. Extensive experience in development assessment and a strong knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Local Government Act. Proven ability to mentor and train less experienced staff. Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and corporate software applications. A current Class C driver’s license. Desirable Criteria: Local Government experience. Commitment to ongoing professional development. An interest in and commitment to developing expertise in coastal planning and environmental management.
