This position involves close collaboration with external partners such as the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and industry stakeholders. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will undertake research focused on developing integrated characterization datasets (incorporating petrophysical, mineralogical, geochemical and structural data) and methodologies, with applications to the mineral industry. Working in collaboration with researchers from Earth and Physical Sciences, Engineering, CSIRO Mineral Resources, and industry collaborators/partners, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow will conduct research, develop and/or contribute to research publications as a member of a high performing team and ensure all key research outcomes and milestones are achieved in alignment with project timelines.The ambition to establish a strong research portfolio, as well as capacity to contribute to the growth of the research culture within the College of Science and Engineering, the Economic Geology Research Centre (EGRU), and the University are also inherent requirements of the position.What you can bring to the roleA PhD qualification or equivalent in Geology, Geophysics, Physics, or related disciplinesDemonstrated experience in the fields of mineralogy, petrology, seismology, geophysics economic geology and/or mineral physics/petrophysics.Experience in mineral system science and/or geophysical modelling.A proven track record in research publication.Desirable:Experience with manipulation and analysis of large datasets.Experience with 3D data visualization programs.Knowledge of programming and software development.First-hand industry experience in mining, exploration, GIS, petrophysics or geophysics.Why JCU?JCU offers a culturally diverse working environment with opportunities for professional and personal growth.
