The position contributes to the Court by undertaking multiple and diverse tasks to provide administrative support to the functioning of court proceedings in the Supreme Court.

Period of AppointmentFixed-term casual for a period of three years.

DutiesUndertake administrative work for judges in chambers that includes:locating of reference material as provided by the judge or judge's associatemaintaining lists of authorities;organising travel and equipment for judges on circuit.Act as the interface or liaison between the judge and jury when Court is not sitting, including before and after Court, and during adjournments.Conduct the induction of jurors before a trial and manage interactions with jurors during the trial.Assist in court proceedings by undertaking:preparation of court rooms, chambers and jury roomsswearing in witnesses, jurors and other personnel;acting as the Associate as requireddata entry of court procedures as required by the Associateattending to jurors during proceedingsescorting the judges from the court room during security incidentsmonitor the behaviour of people in court to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and protocols.Monitoring live ICT during Court sittings including voice recording and VC, including testing before court sittings.Ensure that court files and exhibits are managed appropriately and are secure whilst in the court room and in transit.Provide information and training to less experienced staff in relevant protocols of Court procedures and in-Court ICT.Provide administrative support to other members of the judge's staff, the Court librarian and support to the Sheriff's office in juror administration.The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications, and experience normally expected from persons occupying jobs at this classification level.Pre-employment ChecksThe Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.
