The Opportunity:
This is more than just a payroll role — this is a pathway to leadership. As a Payroll Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our payroll function, ensuring smooth and accurate payroll processing. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the payroll team, providing leadership, guidance, and support to deliver on key payroll functions for our growing workforce. You will collaborate with HR and finance to ensure compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement in payroll operations.
With a clear succession plan in place, we are looking for someone with the vision and ambition to transition into the Payroll Manager role within 18-24 months. As Payroll Manager, you will lead the department, drive strategic payroll initiatives, and contribute to wider business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise the end-to-end payroll process for a large and diverse workforce, ensuring timely and accurate payroll.
2. Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
3. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, staying up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation.
4. Oversee payroll reporting, audits, and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and transparency in all payroll activities.
5. Collaborate with HR and finance teams on payroll budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
6. Lead process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance payroll efficiency.
7. Provide expert advice on payroll policies, procedures, and best practices.
What We’re Looking For:
8. A minimum of 10 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
9. Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including superannuation and taxation.
10. Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
11. Experience with payroll systems and a passion for process improvement and automation.
12. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
13. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
