The opportunity
A unique career opportunity awaits for an experienced Principal Strategic Planner to join our high performing team on a permanent, full-time basis.
This opportunity will see you assisting the Strategic Planning Unit to improve the physical, environmental, social and economic amenity of the beautiful Port Stephens community.
You will play a key role in facilitating strategic land-use planning of the built environment, infrastructure, heritage and biodiversity. You will provide leadership and support within the Strategic Planning team through the management of planning proposals and providing reliable and balanced planning advice to Council and the community through both briefings and reporting.
* This is a permanent opportunity – working full-time 35 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement
* Base Salary Range : $103,938 - $122,275 pa based on 35 hours / week + 11.5% superannuation + $18,619.19 motor vehicle allowance + $2,312 retention allowance
* You will be working from PSC Administration Building, Raymond Terrace

* Prepare land use planning studies, development guidelines and policy advice in relation to specific sites and re-development areas; town centres and precincts and consult with relevant Council departments
* Supervise, coach and mentor staff and consultants to ensure the expectations of the Section are met
* Monitor the progress of strategic planning matters and review policies and plans prior to progressing to the Executive Leadership Team or Council as may be required

* Undergraduate qualifications in Town Planning or associated equivalent with several years of experience
* Demonstrated experience in the planning and development industry
* Extensive experience in research, preparation, review and implementation of policies and plans, such as local environmental plans, development control plans, policies and development contributions plans
* Demonstrated prior management or senior level experience held
