NACCHO is the national peak body representing 146 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) and the lead advisor to the Commonwealth Government on primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationally.
Position Overview: An Assistant Director provides timely, accurate and persuasive policy and program advice and recommendations, underpinned by evidence and analysis, contextual awareness, including the policy environment and stakeholder consultation. This advice will contribute to the implementation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cancer Plan, the planning and delivery of the NACCHO Cancer Program and other cancer initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Liaising with organisations within both the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and government to contribute to the planning and delivery of cancer programs and policy initiatives.Representing NACCHO at meetings, conferences, seminars, and with the public to discuss and contribute to the planning and delivery of cancer programs.Undertaking complex data analysis, research and horizon scanning activities to inform cancer program planning and delivery.Preparing high-quality written information, including project reporting and workforce training materials, tailored for a wide variety of audiences.Supervising and supporting the NACCHO Cancer Team across a broad range of activities.Leading grant management processes and secretariat duties of the Cancer Team to support the work of the NACCHO Cancer Expert Working Group and other governance committees as required.The skills and experience we are seeking: Tertiary qualifications in health or a related fieldCapable problem-solving, judgement, and analytical skillsStrong collaborative, communication, and time management skillsThe ability to think strategically and deliver program and policy initiatives effectivelyDemonstrated experience managing staff and teamsA track record working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peopleReward: You will be rewarded with attractive remuneration and conditions, including not-for-profit salary packaging, along with 15% superannuation, professional development, and the opportunity to be part of a cohesive team committed to improving primary health care outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
