About MMG Rosebery
Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
MMG has an office in Burnie, giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Surveyor - Mining
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mine Surveyor to be part of our Mine Technical Services team at MMG’s Rosebery Mine.
Reporting to the Senior Surveyor-Mining, will provide a reliable spatial information service in a safe and timely manner. You will also be responsible in supporting necessary changes to work practices to ensure continuing compliance with regulations
This role can be offered with various options such as relocation support to Tasmania with subsidised housing residential to Rosebery or elsewhere in Tasmania on a DIDO arrangement, alternatively we can also support 8:6 FIFO roster from Melbourne
Key responsibilities will include:
* Ensure daily survey duties are performed to a high standard and in a timely matter to ensure mine operational activities.
* Assist with completing month end measurements and reports as per the business requirements.
* Ensure all underground voids are captured electronically and added to relevant files.
* Ensure all spatial information required by operations to conform to mine designs is provided in a timely and accurate manner.
* Participate and assist in planning and executing check surveys.
* Track daily development firings, pick-ups and laser checks.
* Assist in maintaining systems and records of survey information.
* Actively participate in discussions with the Mine Technical Services team to support and promote agreed decisions of the team.
* Maintain, build and enhance inter departmental relationships and communication.
* Assist in producing a monthly mining over break report for all horizontal development.
* Abide by Workplace Management Procedures to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, visions and values, and MMG Code of Conduct.
With demonstrated surveying experience within an underground mining environment, you will have both well-developed technical skills and personal attributes including the following:
* Underground surveying experience
* Leica TS16 Total Station (or similar) experience
* Void scanning technology experience (Optech CMS and C-ALS etc.)
* Spatial data manipulation software experience (Deswik, Surpac & Leica Infinity etc.)
* Experience at flying drones and have RePL – not essential but advantageous. Use of Aerial Photography processing software (e.g. Adam Technology, Pix4D etc.
* Emersent Hovermap (or similar) including dealing with point cloud data – not essential, but desirable
* Good knowledge of underground surveying techniques, Control setup and survey and Underground mining methods
* Competent in Deswik. MDM experience would be advantageous.
* Manual driver’s license
