The office of Senator Jacqui Lambie is seeking applications for a full-time ongoing Electorate Officer, based in the Parliamentarian’s Electorate Office in Burnie, Tasmania. Position Overview The Electorate Officer is responsible for serving the needs of the electorate, managing constituents enquiries and coordinating diary appointments for the Senator. This position would suit a highly organised person with strong administrative experience. Key duties: Function as the first point of contact for constituents and other visitors to the Electorate Office, working to resolve their issues and answer any queries in a courteous, sensitive, and prompt manner. Receiving, triaging and coordinating constituent enquiries including written correspondence, telephone and e-mail enquiries. Working alongside the Senator and Office Manager to manage appointments. Assisting with a range of general administrative tasks within the office. Data entry and database management to maintain constituent information and contact details. Identifying, engaging, and building strong relationships with community organisations. Helping to plan and manage events and engagement opportunities for the Member/Senator and the community. Travel within the electorate may be required. Other duties as required. The ideal applicant should possess the following skills and experience: High level oral and written communication skills, and excellent customer service capabilities with a strong attention to detail. Demonstrated professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality. Highly motivated and able to work proactively, both independently and in a small team. Ability to work to tight deadlines, plan, organise and prioritise work under pressure. Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Office, especially Teams and Excel highly desirable. Experience in office administration, stakeholder engagement and event management. The ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and meet competing deadlines. Employment conditions This position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984) and the terms and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-2023 which include: A commencing salary between $69,046 and $73,098 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills An additional option allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work. Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements) An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable. An initial probationary period of three months will apply and be subject to extension. The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Policy History Check.
