In the daunting and unpredictable experience that follows diagnosis, a child needs as much stability and support from their family as possible. Redkite is a lifeline for these families, providing emotional, financial and practical support in the hospital and at home, throughout their entire cancer experience.The role:This role will provide assessment, psychosocial support and therapeutic counselling to children and young people (up to 18 years old) with a diagnosis of cancer, their families and support networks.In addition, you may be involved in the planning and delivery of both video-based and face-to-face support groups, and in supporting the delivery of services to families across multiple settings.Effectively inform and link children, young people and families to appropriate services both within and outside Redkite, and provide case management or care coordination when needed.Develop care plans in collaboration with the individuals and families affected by cancer that consult Redkite.Maintain strong knowledge of key sources of practical, financial, emotional and educational support for children, young people facing cancer and their families.Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols in accordance with identified need.Actively and positively participate in clinical supervision with the Clinical Lead.About you:The position is ideal for someone who has had some experience providing support to children and their families. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following skills & experience:A tertiary Social Work qualification recognised by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).Eligibility for membership of the AASW.A minimum of 2 years’ post-qualifying experience of providing psychosocial support and therapeutic counselling to children, young people (up to 18 years old) and families.An ability to exercise advanced independent professional judgement to facilitate complex professional and clinical decisions.An ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal and external key stakeholders in relation to optimising service delivery outcomes.Case noting and record-keeping skills.Highly regarded:Oncology experience or experience working in hospital or health setting.Experience coordinating services for people with multiple support needs.Experience in child counselling or Social Work with children.Experience managing hospital or other stakeholder relationships, and working collaboratively with external service providers.Eligibility for, or experience supervising a student.How to apply:Please attach a cover letter to your CV.
