Flying Bark Productions is working on exciting projects such as the highly anticipated Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix's Stranger Things animated series, Marvel Studios’ What If…?, Disney Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, as well as our production Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan.
We are looking for an experienced CFX Artist to join our team! Reporting to our Producer, your role will include running character FX and simulations, trouble shooting and adding secondary motion to 3D animation where needed and work closely with VFX Supervisors and Leads to deliver final shots.
About the role:
All duties and responsibilities as reasonably required by the Production Company of a CFX Artist, including:
* Run character related FX and simulations including but not limited to cloth, hair, rigid body, crowd, or muscles, in particular using nCloth in Maya to do cloth simulation
* Work closely with VFX Supervisors and Leads to determine the best approach to solve effects challenges and develop final look in shot development
* Running simulations for shot production; troubleshooting and providing revisions based on Supervisor/Client feedback
* Shot modelling and/or cleaning existing character related simulations
* Adding secondary motion to 3D animation where needed
* Adding further simulation on other assets such as geometry hair clumps, hero feathers etc. if required
* Support pipeline animation principles, timing and departmental interdependencies
* Maintain a consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work.
* And all other duties and responsibilities as reasonably required by the Production Company.
About you:
* Excellent communication skills.
* Up to date and in-depth knowledge of Maya and nCloth
* Experience programming/scripting with Python, MEL and/or C++
* Experience with Houdini preferred
* Ability to develop techniques and processes to solve rigging production challenges.
