About the Role
Grampians Health welcome applications to join our Nuclear Medicine team as a permanent full-time Grade 2 Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT). The role is based at the Ballarat campus of Grampians Health. Applications are open to NMTs of a variety of experience, from new graduates to experienced practitioners.
The Nuclear Medicine Department, located within Radiology, offers applicants the chance to practice in an inclusive, professional team environment. The Radiology Department perform a diverse range of high-quality diagnostic and interventional procedures examinations across a range of modalities including MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine (SPECT/CT), Ultrasound, Mammography, Fluoroscopy and General X-ray.
We are seeking a highly motivated, collaborative NMT who is committed to providing safe, high-quality care to consumers referred to the Grampians Health Nuclear Medicine department.
As a NMT at Grampians Health, you will have the opportunity to provide nuclear medicine services to both in and outpatients from across the Grampians region. We offer a diverse range of nuclear medicine examinations, both diagnostic and therapeutic. Our department comprises of two SPECT/CT systems, radiopharmacy laboratory and stress testing suite. PET/CT expansion is planned within the future department direction. Our NMTs are supported daily by an on-site Nuclear Medicine Physician.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform appropriately requested diagnostic procedures, in accordance with department protocols and associated NM specialist approval pathways.
* Obtain high-quality imaging data, raw and processed, on a variety of equipment across the department, including, but not limited to SPECT and associated hybrid CT systems.
* Manage efficient workflow and scheduling for rostered area of duty.
* Coordinate and liaise with other staff members and departments, inside and outside of Radiology, to ensure safe delivery of services.
* Perform therapeutic unsealed isotopic procedures in conjunction with the NM physician, under accepted policies and processes, including radiation safety consideration and adherence to relevant legislation.
* Acceptance and reconstitution of various radiopharmaceuticals and associated safe handling of chemicals produced both in-house and received from external radiopharmacy laboratories, including all relevant safe handling and QC processes
* Perform in-vitro and in-vivo procedures within the context of Nuclear Medicine, including handling of biological agents and blood labelling procedures.
* Participate in education and supervision of students and junior technologists, under the guidance of the Clinical Educator or Chief NMT.
Skills and Experience
Essential
* Recognised tertiary qualification in Medical Radiation Science (Nuclear Medicine)
* Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* Victorian Radiation Use Licence (Nuclear Medicine) or eligibility to obtain
Desirable
* Recognised post graduate qualification (VSNMT/RAINS) in Computed Tomography (CT) or completion of tertiary education inclusive of CT qualification
* Qualification in Bone Density (ANZBMS)
* Experience in PET/CT imaging
