Hostel Workers - Cook, Housekeeper and Night Attendant
Our purpose is to provide safe, culturally appropriate and affordable accommodation for First Nations people who need to be away from home to access services and economic opportunities.
Across its network of hostels, dedicated Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) staff provide accommodation and meals for residents in a supportive environment, assisted by local First Nations service providers and referral agencies.

AHL is looking for experienced Hostel Workers who are highly motivated, energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about delivering quality services to our residents.
As a Cook, your duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Prepare meals in accordance with AHL’s set menus, Food Safety Standards Australia, and other relevant legislation.
2. Stock take management - rotate, receive, and monitor food and kitchen supplies.
3. Ensure the kitchen is cleaned to standard.
4. Prepare and clean the dining rooms for residents.
As a Housekeeper, your duties and responsibilities include:
1. Cleaning tasks on a daily basis to ensure hostels are serviced to a high standard.
2. A high level of customer service to AHL residents at all times.
3. Performing duties which uphold AHL's commitment to safety for all staff and residents by practicing and adhering to relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures.
As a Night Attendant, your duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Managing the night security of the hostel in accordance with AHL’s policies and relevant legislation.
2. A high level of customer service to AHL residents at all times.
3. Performing duties which uphold AHL’s commitment to safety for all staff and residents by practicing and adhering to relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures.
4. Performing other duties as directed by the Hostel Manager or Assistant Hostel Manager to ensure a high level of service is maintained.
All hostel workers are required to work as part of a team. While our regular duties will be your priority, you will be required to perform other duties as directed by the Hostel Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
2. Undergo a Satisfactory National Criminal History Check (prior to engagement).
3. Meet Fitness for Duty requirements (prior to engagement).
4. Working with Children Card/ Blue Card in QLD.
5. Hold or obtain the essential qualifications.
Essential qualifications/training: (or ability to obtain in the first six months of employment)
1. Certificate III or Certificate IV in Cookery (Cook)
2. Chemical Handling Training (Housekeeper)
3. Certificate II in Hospitality (all roles)
4. Other relevant qualifications or work experience in a similar role (all roles)
