(pro-rata) 17% superannuation premium loading for weekend shifts About the opportunity Reporting to the Director of the WHCH, the Veterinary Nurse will provide veterinary nursing and administrative duties to the native wild-life animals attending the Wildlife Health and Conservation Hospital in Camden. The WHCH is part of the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden (UVTHC) which provides a clinical learning experience for veterinary students with staff engaged in professional training programs which you will play an important part in. Your key responsibilities will be to: provide assistance during veterinary procedures, including surgery and emergency care for wildlife perform routine veterinary tasks, such as blood collection and IV catheter placement, while monitoring hospitalised animals mentor veterinary interns, guiding them in technical skills such as administering medication and daily treatments manage clinical case discharge procedures and maintain in-house records, ensuring data integrity oversee the cleanliness of clinical areas and sterilise medical equipment as required assist in coordinating communication with stakeholders, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly and efficiently About you The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Veterinary Nurse who has: a Certificate IV Veterinary nursing at least 12 months experience in handling and caring for Australian native wildlife animals in a clinic/hospital with a regular wildlife caseload the ability to communicate with academics, veterinary professionals’ wildlife carers and veterinary students sound experience in a multi veterinarian practice or hospital involving the medical care of birds, reptiles, and native species technical skills with Veterinary Patient Management Systems like RX Works strong knowledge of a large range of veterinary surgical & medical procedures. The Working Hours The first part-time position roster is Monday to Friday, 5:00pm to 11:00pm (30 hours per week) The second part-time position roster is Saturday and Sunday 3:00pm to 11:00pm (15.2 hours per week) Note:This exciting opportunity is Part-time, continuing employment contingent on the continuation of external funding.
