The John de Laeter Centre is the core analytical facility at Curtin University, Western Australia, hosting more than $50M of advanced characterisation and analysis instrumentation operated by dedicated laboratory managers and technicians. We provide tailored geoscience services to the resources sectors to reduce risk, improve workflows and provide solutions.

Your new role:
Curtin University is seeking a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to manage the University’s participation in the ‘EXCITE2’ project - Enhanced X(cross)-disciplinary Community-driven Imaging Technologies for Earth and Environmental material research.
In this role you will:
* Liaise with EXCITE2 program users accessing the Geoscience Atom Probe Facility through a competitive, externally peer-reviewed process.
* Communicate with users to schedule visits and coordinate instrument usage in collaboration with the Facility manager.
* Coordinate visits to Curtin University, manage sample shipments, and oversee sample analysis within the Facility.
* Assist EXCITE2 program users in specimen preparation, data acquisition, and reconstruction and processing.
* Contribute to writing and co-authoring high-impact journal articles.
* Play a key role in the management team, assessing the feasibility of potential projects before submitting applications to EXCITE2.
* Explore opportunities for independent research using the facility for projects separate from the EXCITE2 program.
The position will be based at Curtin University (Bentley campus), within the John de Laeter Centre. Please also note that interstate and/or overseas travel may be required.
Please note you will require work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role. We will also consider international candidates who are eligible for a relevant visa. Some relocation support may be provided for the right candidate.

Essential criteria:
* A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.
* Capable of conducting independent research.
* Proven experience in micro and nanoscale analytical techniques.
* Expertise in high spatial-resolution geochemistry of minerals.
* Demonstrated financial management skills with experience in laboratory procurement.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Practices.
* Track record of publication on relevant research.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organisational and time management skills, and attention to detail.
Desired Criteria:
* Experience with atom probe tomography techniques.
* Experience with specimen preparation methods for atom probe or similar techniques.
* Experience in the supervision and completion of training of post-graduate students, industry fellows and/or postdoctoral fellows.
