Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a key role as a strategic advisor, providing high-level executive support while offering expert advice on legal, compliance, and public relations matters. Your ability to engage and communicate effectively with individuals from all walks of life will be essential in this dynamic role. With no two days the same, you will thrive in a fast-paced environment where your multi-tasking skills will be put to use across a variety of responsibilities.Your key responsibilities include:Managing and negotiating Council property leases and contractsProviding expert guidance on legal and compliance matters, including the Public Interest Disclosures Act and other relevant legislationLiaising with the community and acting as a key contact for public relations and governanceCoordinating internal resources for Right to Information requests and providing support to a variety of departments, including Animal Control, Planning, and Building Compliance teamsAssisting with contract management, agreement administration, and Council policy developmentOverseeing project research, grant applications, and contributing to Council reportsServing as a trusted advisor, offering pragmatic advice on legal, risk, and governance mattersSupporting the General Manager and acting as a key contributor to the Council’s overall strategyAbout YouTo be successful in this role, you will need a tertiary qualification in a relevant field and demonstrated experience in a similar executive or governance position. Previous experience in local government or a legal background will be highly regarded, particularly in areas such as contract negotiation, community liaison, and compliance.
