Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (Deputy Clinical Skills Coordinator & OSCE Lead) Job reference: 765276 Your new role Established in 2017, the Curtin Medical School, which is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences, brings together multidisciplinary teaching and research expertise. The Curtin Medical School encompasses disciplines including Medicine, Pharmacy, Laboratory Medicine, Biomedical Science and Medical Radiation Science. The Discipline of Medicine leads the only undergraduate medical degree in Western Australia. It is committed to producing graduates who are better equipped to meet community needs, with primary care expertise, strong leadership skills and the ability to operate effectively in inter-professional care teams. The MBBS course is enrolling an increasing number of students and these positions will provide support in relation to coordination of Year 1-3 clinical skills activities (Deputy role), coordination of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) assessments, student liaison and support. We have two positions available: 1 x 0.6 FTE Continuing - Year 1 & 2 1 x 0.4 FTE 12 month parental leave cover - Year 3 These two roles will work closely together to deliver clinical skills and OSCE assessment. Supporting the Clinical Skills Coordinator in the following tasks: Plan and design clinical skills curriculum Plan and conduct simulated patient (SP) sessions Liaise with SP support team Liaise with resource team for equipment support for tutorials/seminars/OSCE Co-ordinate new teaching/learning activities as required Manage team of clinical skills tutors Liaise with year 2 coordinator and year 1 and 3 clinical skills coordinator to ensure there is vertical and lateral integration of content OSCE coordination tasks: Prepare blueprint and exam specifications – Main, Deferred & further assessments Organise and coordinate writers/reviewers for new question writing and for clinical reviews Liaise with resource team for equipment support for OSCE Liaise with OSCE support team Coordinate the review of OSCE stations Review and revise OSCE stations When required both roles will be involved in: Development and delivery of related teaching activities. Writing of new OSCE stations. Please note you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of the role to be considered. Essential Criteria: Fellowship of a relevant medical college in Australia. A medical degree and doctoral qualification (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing). Experience in health care education. Experience and well-developed understanding of educational practice. Commitment to excellence in teaching. High-level communication and interpersonal skills. Desirable: Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner without any current undertakings or conditions (desirable). Applications close: 10pm AWST, 20 November 2024.
