The Senior Category Manager is responsible for managing a specific category of products or services within a company. They will work closely with the marketing, sales, and procurement teams to ensure that the company's offerings in their category are competitive and profitable. Key operational accountabilities include: Analysing market trends and competitor offerings to identify opportunities and threats in the category. Developing and implementing category strategies and plans to achieve business objectives. Working with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure the company gets the best value for its purchases. Developing and managing product assortments within the category to optimize sales and profitability. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and execute marketing and promotional activities to drive category sales. Monitoring and analysing category performance metrics, such as sales, margin, and inventory levels, to make data-driven decisions and recommendations. Building relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, sales teams, and customers, to ensure successful category management. Staying up to date with industry and market trends to identify new opportunities and emerging threats. Managing and coaching team members responsible for the category. Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as industry regulations SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Ability to understand and thrive in a multidimensional national fresh produce supply chain Ability and confidence to make considered commercial decisions in what is a complex and dynamic marketplace.
