Location:Parramatta, NSW, AU, 2150Fantastic opportunity to join the Adaptation, Mitigation and Reconstruction division of the NSW Reconstruction Authority.Ongoing role based in Parramatta with flexible work and hybrid options available.Clerk Grade 9/10, base salary range ($125,693 - $138,510) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.About the roleAs a Senior Climate Risk Analyst, you will play a key role in NSW Government efforts to quantify the built, economic, social and environmental impacts of natural hazards in NSW. Collaborating with stakeholders across government, academia and industry, you will apply existing and novel approaches to quantify current and future costs of natural hazards (including heatwaves, droughts, bushfires and landslip). Your expertise and insights will support disaster adaptation planning and inform evidence-based policy and program design aimed at reducing vulnerability to, and impact of, natural hazards across NSW.You have strong analytical skills and understanding of natural hazard risk assessment, coupled with excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and maintain productive relationships across disciplines and sectors (local, state and federal governments, private sector). With sound project design and management experience, a drive to achieve best outcomes and a high level of autonomy, you ensure deadlines are met and competing priorities are managed.Key Responsibilities:Demonstrate capability and experience in natural hazards and risks in NSW, with experience in heatwaves and droughts being highly regarded.Conduct quantitative climate risk assessments across economic, social, built and environmental domains.Analyze climate, environmental, socio-economic and geospatial datasets.Exhibit a strong understanding of climate change concepts and projections.Engage with diverse stakeholders to design and deliver best practice and fit-for-purpose solutions.Process and analyze spatio-temporal datasets (e.g., with Python).Essential Requirements:Tertiary qualifications in any STEM field including climate science, geography, geoscience, environmental science, engineering or equivalent and/or extensive experience in a relevant technical field.About the AgencyThe NSW Reconstruction Authority (the Authority) is a statutory corporation within Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
