Are you a recent Year 12 graduate who wants to develop your skills before pursuing study, or take the time to think about your career direction? Or have you been thinking about a job in the Army but you’re not sure it would be right for you? Maybe you just want a break from your current job to travel and challenge yourself?
Being an Aeroskills Technician Assistant provides young Australians who meet general entry requirements an opportunity to broaden their life experience with only a one-year commitment. This pathway offers a 'try before you buy' experience of Army training and lifestyle for young men and women, without any obligation to serve beyond one year. You will also gain exposure to other aviation roles during this time and have the option to continue a career in Army aviation by transferring to other trade roles.
As an Aeroskills Technician Assistant you will be a valued member of a team, working not only in an Aviation workshop at an air base, but also out in the field on domestic exercises, deployments, and humanitarian operations. An Aeroskills Technician Assistant serves in the Corps of the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME).
You will assist and provide valuable support to Aeroskills technicians servicing, repairing and modifying Army Helicopters and equipment. You will undertake a range of tasks, including aircraft ground handling, operating hand tools and Aviation ground support equipment, replenishments, aircraft towing, marshalling, washing, launching aircraft and support equipment maintenance.
In this role you’ll have the opportunity to grow your knowledge of Aviation maintenance processes and procedures whilst gaining experience by working on various types of Army Aviation equipment.
